Digital Transformation Canvas
Digital Transformation Canvas

The objective of a Digital Transformation is to transform an organisation into a form in which it can achieve and maintain a competitive position in the digital age. Transformation initiatives require an analysis of the market, customers and new technologies as well as internal values, processes and resources. The output is a digital strategy with a clear vision, new business options and an implementation roadmap.

Here, the Digital Transformation Canvas plays an important role as it facilities strategy analysis and development based on the seven action fields of transformations. The seven action fields of Digital Transformation are based on the research from Prof Dr Marc K Peter among 2,590 Swiss organisations. Each action field includes a brief definition and a set of questions for workshops with strategy, HR, IT, finance, marketing, product and project teams in your organisation.

Digital Transformation: A CXO's Guide
Digital Transformation: A CXO's Guide

¡®Digital transformation¡¯ is a buzzword that has been tripping off the tongues of vendors, analysts and industry observers with increasing frequency in recent years. In a sense, digital transformation of business has been ongoing for decades, starting with the mainframe and minicomputer and progressing through the PC/clientserver, internet/web and mobile/cloud eras. Arguably, it¡¯s set to make the biggest impact yet in the next few years, in the brave new world of AI-driven computing.

DEFINING DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

But what exactly is ¡®digital transformation¡¯? Here are a few definitions and descriptions from various quarters:

¡°Organizations must begin to look at digital holistically and transform by applying digital thinking across everything they do -- how they win, serve, and retain customers; how they operate internal processes; and how they source business services. In short, they must become a digital business¡± (Forrester).

Digital Leaders: Transforming your business
Digital Leaders: Transforming your business

IDC¡¯s research shows that digital leaders in Europe have the mandate from the CEO to transform their organisation and seize the opportunities this presents. In response, they are facing the challenge of driving digital transformation (DX) efforts to scale for their respective organisations, and delivering results within a short period of time.

IDC recently interviewed 400 digital leaders across France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK. The survey reveals that digital leaders find their finance and HR systems are adequate for today¡¯s requirements but lack the flexibility and sophistication to deliver on the broader DX mandate. Indeed, the survey shows that four in five organisations find it difficult or impossible to adapt finance and HR processes to evolving business requirements in the face of new data sources, evolving business models and new interactions with customers and the ecosystem.

Digital Transformation through data
Digital Transformation through data

Digital innovation has reshaped the news and media industry. The transition from print to digital started more than two decades ago, and the changes to news and media companies during this time have been dramatic. Few publications still exist as print-only editions anymore. Almost all major print and broadcast news outlets now maintain digital version.

To capitalize on this evolution, news and media companies are harnessing the power of their digital platforms to generate insights on reader behavior in ways that were never before possible. By applying these insights with increasing sophistication, companies are improving both reader engagement and online revenue performance.

The 2018 digital transformation report
The 2018 digital transformation report

Digital transformation is an essential strategy for any company operation in today's travel industry. with worldwide digital travel sales set to reach to more than $600 billion, and with mobile purchase expected to soon make up close to half of all transactions in some markets, consumer habits are forcing a rapid rise in expectations for digital-focused commerce.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, most travel businesses are moving rapidly to adapt, integrate, or evolve digital systems that control nearly every aspect of their business operations, from marketing to customer service to distribution.

In this increasingly digital-focused environment, what steps should today's travel organizations be taking to transform their business? And how far along are they in process of integrating innumerable available digital tools into their strategy? In response to these questions and the ever-evolving digital landscape. Skift and Adobe are releasing the 2018 Digital Transformation Report. This annual research initiative, based on the results of an industry-wide survey polling nearly 200 executives from across the travel industry, attempts to understand how today's travel marketers are evolving their digital infrastructure, both for customers and internal operations. It also assesses the key challenges facing today's travel industry as organizations seek to adapt for today's digital-focused customers, environment and business processes.

Skills for smart industrial specialisation and DX
The competitiveness of industry is highly dependent on the knowledge, skills, competencies and creativity of its workforce. It is widely recognised in industry that potential shortages and gaps in skills development, combined with mismatches between labour supply and demand, directly harm job creation. The Fourth Industrial Revolution brings major disruption to the scale at which upskilling and reskilling efforts currently take place, and is therefore likely to widen these potential gaps. Moreover, it is likely that advanced economies characterised by large consumer markets, such as the European Union (EU), will be confronted with the highest skills mismatches.
